Contributors of the Week 2008-08-11

This week we are recognizing Pcatch135 and Skunkape.

Pcatch135, You are doing a great job managing the projects that you have volunteered for. The Mom and Pop Buffalo Wings project and the Trader Joe's updates are coming along nicely. You are always one of the first people on the site to welcome and nicely direct new people to the pages that will help them the most and you are also ready to speak up if you feel that someone needs to be recognized. I really appreciate having you as a part of our team, you are a great leader.

Skunkape, You are doing a great job getting the Orange County Metro area filled with content. I can see that you don't monkey around when it comes to showing this community that you are a great contributor and star member of our team. Thanks for all that you do for us, it is appreciated.

I want to touch base on one of the items that came up last week. User credit on the POI-Factory community projects like all the MOM and Pop locations for Sub Shops, burgers, hot dogs and the like. In the beginning I was making sure that each contributor got their name added to the list of contributors.

It has gotten to the point where that is just not manageable anymore, we have many more projects and it would detract to much from my other work to keep up with this. I also feel that it clutters the actual POI file page. So for now I am going to ask users to look at the discussion link to see who has contributed. I have been making sure that each person gets their contributor button for helping.

We will be looking at how to handle recognition in the future over the next few months of meetings.

When they say "build it and they will come" they really meant it. We are coming up on our second year on the web and I am really proud of what all of you have helped us achieve.

In the start up of this adventure we knew that there would always be room for improvement. Our first goal was to get the community in place and then work with that group of people to add the features and structures to support all of the growth.

We are at that point of growing pains again and Jon and I will be working on solutions to move us into the future.

It is really nice to see that we are at that point and that we continue to get the support to encourage us to be the best on the web for Points of interest and other GPS related information.

You should all be proud of what you are a part of.

Great work!!

Miss POI, maybe during the time that you will be making the change on how you can give credit for the help, maybe the creators can do like I do for the Auto Repair shops poi, At the end of each entry I put in a summited by: then the users login name.

Just a tought!

Congratulation to both good work. It is going to be a continous job to keep up your poi's but well worth and greatly appericated. Good Job

Miss POI I think like it was mentioned before if the maintainer of a poi will just post an acknowledgement on the board to those that submit changes updates or errors that could be enough.

Miss POI

First of all... Congrats to our new COWS.

Second, Miss POI, don't forget to think about the databases (IE Hot Dog file). Would it be possible to add a field to track the contributor's name. If so, I have kept a list of who contributed what (Almost completely...) and I could populate the field.

Keep up the great work everyone.... COWS current and future.
