I'm personally a huge fan of radio controlled clocks and watches. I find it amazing how the 60 kHz WWVB frequency can travel so far and synchronize all the different timepieces in almost all of North America.

If ever your in Colorado and want to take a peak at the antenna and towers you now have the coordinates for the south side.
