Google Maps Smartphone Vs Web Bases Results

On another forum, a member posted that Google Maps smartphone versions aren't in sync with the web-based version. I have never made close comparisons of one vs. the other. Has anybody here experienced discrepancies between them?

Different conditions

The phone app generally always uses the GPS location, where on the computer it is wherever you tell it. Sometimes on the computer is tries to guess but whenever it does that it thinks I'm in the next (larger) town over.

There can be different settings in play too. The phone app takes into account current traffic. When looking at the computer, if it does take into account traffic, it is traffic then and not when you are actually traveling.

There can also be different settings as to if you prefer fastest, shortest, most fuel efficient routes.
