web updater program

I just tried to use the Web updater program. I have my 3790T plugged in to the usb port and opened the program and it said it is checking for any newer Web Update version and it stalls there . Nothing happens. So I press cancel and the program closes. Any suggestions?

me too

same thing happened to me today.

Same Here

I have tried to uninstall it without any luck.

WebUpdater Folder

If you can't uninstall from add/remove programs, can you delete or rename the webupdater folder located at C:\Program Files\Garmin\WebUpdater. Then try to reinstall.

Same for me. Updater

Same for me. Updater 2.5.1.

Just

Just noticed I'm having the same problem with my 3790, 1695, 760 and 350.

Guess I'll have to uninstall and see if a clean installation will fix the issue.

UPDATE - Windows Uninstall did not actually delete the old installation. I had to delete the folder:

Program Files(x86)/Garmin/Webupdater

Downloaded and installed Webupdater 2.5.2 and all is now well.

Same thing.

The same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. I had originally installed 2.5.2 with the automated update prompt that popped up when I started Webupdater. So I went to Garmin's site and downloaded 2.5.2 and re-installed it without uninstalling first. That seemed to correct the problem.

Update The Updater

I had the same problem this weekend too. After going to the Garmin site and downloading the version there, the problem was solved. Surprise, surprise...

Maybe has something to do with the virus protection your using

Mine notified me last week that there was an update and it did the on line update to 2.5.2 and all worked fine after the install.

Strange that it worked for some and not others. I'm running Windows 7.

Maybe has something to do with the virus protection you are using.

Same problem, same solution.

Download & re-install worked:

Mine works fine

My web updater updated itself to 2.5.2 and everything works fine. I have an older GPS, a 265WT. I'm running Windows Vista and using Norton Internet Security.

Web Updater

Same thing here - Did what others have said - went to website and downloaded and installed updated version - now all is well in the world of Garmin Navigation

Something down

Something is down in the Garmin domain. If you try to check for software updates from Basecamp or Mapsource it gives a message about being unable to connect to the server.

Says it can't remove the old version

It keeps looking for wumain.msi. I searched for it on my computer and it isn't there. Any ideas where I might find it? The internet doesn't seem to have a definite place.

I searched my PC and my Garmin and could not find wumain.msi

Did you try to just re-run the web updater install or try renaming the webupdater folder located at C:\Program Files\Garmin\WebUpdater then run the install?

I've tried everything I can think of even using Revo Pro to uninstall it. It still looks for that file. I had problems with windows installer starting back a few months and had to reload windows. But, everything that was installed during the failure period has that problem. All that I have tried to remove is Garmin.

Problem Fixed

Got on line with Garmin and they fixed the problem.

Do you remember how Garmin fixed the problem, it could certainly help others who are having the same issue.

They had control over my computer. They loaded a couple of programs which they ran. One of them was windows clean-up. I don't know what the other one was. I'm sorry it just went too fast. I'm sure they had been through the same thing before.

Got it working

Glad to hear they got it working. Sounds like it might have been a Windows issue. Hopefully, they didn't break or remove any features you wanted on your PC. rolleyes
