Supposedly this is true but I only have my iPad and can’t verify the statement.
[Edit] On a PC now and when entering GE I was prompted that GE 7.20.2.0 is now available but nothing about a map update.
Now that I've updated GE, a new map NA City Navigator 2025.10 is shown as available (4.80 GB in size on a nuvi 265).
Release notes for GE 7.20.2.0 read “Resolved a map update failure for our legacy devices.”
Went well
All went well on both my units.

thanks
for heads up
2025.10 Large JCV
I sure would like large jcv for 2025.10. Does anyone know if it's available or will it be? I have 1390LMT
Also have 1390LMT

I’m holding off on updating my 1390LMT for now. Waiting to see if there is a large jvc link posted for download. Small jvc file is basically useless.
Yes it worthless.

Large JCV files...
I've been checking multiple times per day for the past week. I never feel fully updated until those large JCV files are installed.

2025.10 Large JCV
I made a copy of my drive smart 55 jcv file. It's not as big as the large jcv file (but works full screen) I've had before but it's much bigger than the one garmin has. It's 439mb and second one 45mb. I've never suppled one before but I'm only going to make available for a day or so if you want to try it someone else can download it and make it available. I need the space for my other files. It works on my 1390lmt.

Thanks for this post HarryAR. I have a Drivesmart 55 also and never thought of using the split screen JCV file from the DS55 in my 1390LMT. I'm going to try this. We always had to wait for someone to post the large jcv file download link but have a feeling that it may not happen anymore with everyone going to Google Maps etc.
Please report back with results

I'm very interested if this will work so everyone trying this, report back with your results and state which Garmin device it's being tried on, and whether your results are split screen or full screen. Also, how long is it displayed on the screen?
It seems odd that a DS 55 split screen jcv file would display full screen on any device but then, I don't remember anyone ever trying this, or at least reporting it here.
Going to try it

Curious about this too. But, I'll try it and see what happens.

No issues so far.
Large JCV
What I understand about full or split screen is in firmware and not jcv file
Works great
Installed the new maps on my GPS units, took a road trip and all is good.

Large JCV

It is possible that the split jcv file view was made a different size and is possibly stretched a little to fit the full size in gps though.
It my be why file size is 439mb instead of 800+mb. All I know is it works fine for me. I'm only guessing.
Split-screen JCV files
Split-screen JCV files should be about half the size of the full-screen file, simply because the actual images are half the size of the full-screen images. This is not new, but over time the knowledge was buried on the site. The split-screen file will work on devices that display junction views in full-screen, but the image will be stretched to fit.
Just don't try using the file in the Garmin Drive (not DriveSmart) and the basic / essential series nüvis. The reason why is explained in the FAQs.

Good to know
Maybe I'll hold off on updating my 1390LMT for now.
Thanks

Good info! Yes indeed, the basic Drive models can not display photorealistic images.

Thank you so much for uploading the large jcv for us who need it.
Thanks!
It is a Happy Easter. The simulation is going well. Another six months of the best from this old nuvi.

Your Welcome
After seeing that the split screen version I offered was stretched I set my mind with determination that I would figure a way to get it right. I knew there had to be a way to get it right.
I may be able to get it next time too
Thanks again, HarryAR!
I am sure the task can become tiresome, but if someone will step up, it makes such a difference.
I look forward to the next time.
